MATH COURSES

TERESA ILES will be teaching a math course
from "Teaching Textbooks" next year. They
will cover Trig and Calculus (a semester of
each) for your high schooler to get ready for
college math.
The class will be two days per week and the
cost will vary depending on the number of
students that attend. It could be as little as
$35 each per month if there are five or more
kids; $50 each for 3-4 students; $70 each for
two students, or $120 if there is just one
student. These prices are for full four-week
months. It will be less when there are holidays,
etc. Class dates haven't been decided yet,
because they are waiting to see who will be in
the class.
Teresa is willing to teach other math courses if
there are others that need a different class,
such as Geometry or Algebra.
There will be a small additional one-time fee to
pay for teaching materials.

Art with Mrs. Ellie

This is our 5th year at the Victoria Art League! Such a great atomsphere and facility! And I am celebrating 15 years teaching our dear homeschool kids! What an awesome bunch of citizens we are developing! I hope to see you!
Classes start the first Thursday after Labor Day and will be held at the Victoria Art League 905 South Bridge. Classes are $4.00 a lesson. Three classes are available and I will need 8 students to make each class. Maximum 22. (Private lessons are available for kids or parents.)

Supplies:

Spiral Sketch Notebook. This is drawing paper in a spiral bound 9X12 or 8X11 size
2 no. 2 pencils (any need not be new; plain yellow is great)
kneaded eraser (available at Hobby Lobby or Office Depot.)
Prang water colors Do not substitute~!

These supplies are available at H.E.B. and Hobby Lobby and the total cost should be about $10.00.
1st class:

Thursdays 11:30-1:00
K5-4th grades

2nd class:

Thursdays 1:00-2:30
K5-4rth grades

3rd class:

Thursdays 2:30-4:00
5th grade through High School

Classes will be in Drawing, Painting, and Design, and continue throughout the entire school year, following the VISD calender, to end confusion. In January we will have a shortened review of the 7 elements of design, and then cover special mediums and subjects. We use my supplies for extra projects. No further purchase of supplies is neccessary. Victoria Art League covers the building use fee for HS only;
For your non homeschooled children and friends, this same class is available after school on Mondays 4:30 to 6pm. Cost is $10.00. I love homeschooling, and offer the cut rate to encourage you to send as many of your children as you can afford.
There are Adult Classes in the am on Tuesday if you are interested!

For more information or to sign up ( you need to pre-register classes filled early last year! We started with 65 and ended the year with 66 kids.) contact Ellie Poirrier 655-0271 or Marcel at 655 1006. I need child's name, age, parent's name, and two phone numbers. Thank you. You may leave this info on my answering machine; I will call you with acknowlegement; if you don't get a call, CALL me back!

Creative Writing Classes

Do you purchase books and supplies only to find some subjects are neglected? Is
it virtually impossible to find a good curriculum for creative writing much less one that leaves your child with the desire
to write stories? Would you love to have a few hours to yourself while knowing your children are participating in hands on lessons and receiving social interaction with their peers?

Your problems are solved. I am planning on teaching a creative writing class beginning next August and would love for
your children to be involved. The creative class I teach is based upon a successful curriculum called "The New Jersey
Writing Workshop". This program is a step-by-step process
that enables your child to become a confident writer. Each lesson builds upon the last which has the students learning the steps in small increments so
to not overwhelm the student. Narrative stories, as well as the editing steps involved, will be taught the first semester. The next semester persuasive, compare/contrast, and howto
stories will be covered. This class can be taught to fourth graders through ninth graders. I need six students for a class to take. I have three students registered
thus far.

The student would require a one school year commitment . Each class would meet once a
week for two hours and would cost $12 per week (that's $6.00 an hour!).
Payment for the month would need to be paid at the beginning of the month. A
one-time supply fee of $5.00 will be required to pay for notebooks, etc. Classes will only meet if class size is made, so
promptness is necessary in securing the class.
I look forward to knowing as well as teaching your children. Please feel free to e-mail me at terratliff@yahoo.com with any questions or concerns you may have. Have a great
summer!
Sincerely,
Terri Ratliff
