SUBMITTING PHOTOS FOR YEARBOOK

Hey CHEC Members! The yearbook staff wants pictures of your kids for the 2006-2007 yearbook but we need your help because volunteer operations do have their limitations. The yearbook is only as good as the pictures sent to us and students are usually only represented if the parents send us the pictures. The following are some key things to keep in mind when taking pictures for yearbook:

--- Digital pictures need to be taken in 1600 x 1200 mode or better so that the copying process will be less grainy.

--- Try to take your photos with a few kids taking part in the activity, instead of group shots. Leave the group shots for team pictures, but even those can be creative.

--- Fill up the frame or at least 1/2 of the frame with a close up shot of a person so they are recognizable. We can enlarge or reduce as needed. If their whole bodies are only an inch tall in the photo, it's hard to enlarge and not a good photo to use. Don't be afraid to get close or zoom in. Find an interesting pose and snap those shots!

--- Promptness is appreciated! If you wait until the last minute to submit photos, then we run into a time crunch or find that we can’t add to what's already been completed, so many times it may mean that your photos don’t make the yearbook. If you would submit photos to us right after an event, then it's much easier on us and the odds are better that the photos can be used.

--- Don’t think you can only submit pictures of your child in a CHEC event. We want to show what our members are involved in so if you participate in 4-H, horse shows, community service projects, sports or anything else this school year, send photos and tell us about the event – especially if an achievement was made! We want the yearbook to represent the whole group and what they pursue in their homeschooling experiences!

--- You can submit photos in one of two ways: 1) email pictures to Lori Huber in a reduced format and we will get back to you with what to get printed out Or 2) give us a CD of your pictures. To save us some time, please don’t copy blurry or “bad” photos. Just give us the ones with possibility! Either way is acceptable but having parents help foot the cost of printing out your own pictures, helps reduce the yearbook expenses. Write on the back of all pictures you submit: who is in it and what activity is being participated in, or if you give them to us on CD, make a list to go with it with the same information. If an award was won, don’t forget to let us know what it was. We look forward to hearing from you as you SUBMIT PHOTOS FOR YEARBOOK!!!
